I was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1980, spent my childhood in Ann Arbor, Michigan, attended college at Columbia University, where I put in a punishing tour learning about photography from Thomas Roma, after which I lived in Brooklyn for 8 years. I spent a lot of my time in New York making photographs in the dark in the suburbs of New Jersey and Long Island, and leaving the New York metropolitan area to take pictures out of car windows. I moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and seem to be an anomaly in that I don’t feel too bad about it.
